Guri Weinberg

Co-founder of Telefest, Guri Weinberg was born in Israel in August, 1972 – one month before the tragic murder of his father, Israeli Wrestling Coach Moshe Weinberg, at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. In 1986, Guri moved to Los Angeles to follow his dreams of becoming an actor. This was no simple task – beyond learning the English language, he was challenged to lose his Israeli dialect altogether to expand the roles that he might audition for. Through the subsequent years, Guri worked for such industry notables as Roger Avery (screen- writer – Pulp Fiction) in the Patrick Dempsey pilot, Odd Jobs as well as for George Lucas in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

In a bizarre twist of fate, Guri was offered the role of his father in the Steven Speilberg drama, Munich in 2005. Guri took this challenge on and artistically triumphed, with a haunting performance of his father’s last hours alive. In addition to finding closure for the events that befell his father, Guri’s performance in Munich led to major guest roles on prominent TV shows such as The Closer, Cane, The Good Guys and Burn Notice as well as a supporting role in the Adam Sandler film You Don't Mess with the Zohan and the L.L. Cool J pilot, The Man.

In 2010 Guri was cast in the much anticipated film, The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn 2, directed by Oscar winning director Bill Condon. Guri plays the vampire ‘Stefan’, a 3,000 year old Romanian vampire out for revenge against the Cullen family nemesis, The Volturi. The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn 2 is due for release on November 16, 2012.

Guri supports and promotes the charity, Children of the Night, a resource and recovery center for children living on the streets of Los Angeles as well as several small, local, underserved charities across the U.S. that support children and animals.

Currently, Guri is organizing his largest project yet - Telefest, with his wife veteran actress Tammy Lauren.
