Below is information for submission deadlines, the corresponding fee structure, accepted categories and run time. For consideration in Telefest, your submitted entry must conform to these guidelines.

Submission Deadlines and Fees - All Categories

  • Early Submissions - May 21, 2012 - June 30, 2012 - $40.00 Entry Fee
  • Standard Submissions - July 1, 2012 - September 15, 2012 - $60.00 Entry Fee
  • Late Submissions - September 16, 2012 - October 15, 2012 - $80.00 Entry Fee

Categories - Pilot Presentations/Pilots

  • Pilot Presentation - Half Hour Format - Comedy
  • Pilot Presentation - Half Hour Format - Animation
  • Pilot Presentation - Half Hour Format - Reality (Unscripted)
  • Pilot Presentation - Half Hour Format - Web Series
  • Pilot Presentation - One Hour Format - Drama
  • Pilot Presentation - One Hour Format - SciFi/Horror/SFX
A pilot presentation is a shorter version of a full pilot, used for network/studio consideration.
Half Hour Format Pilot Presentations are generally 10 -12 minutes in length, submissions may not exceed 12 minutes.
One Hour Format Pilot Presentations are 18 - 20 minutes in length, submissions may not exceed 20 minutes.

Categories - Feature Film/Documentary

  • Documentary
Feature films and documentaries are accepted in any genre.
Feature films are generally 90 - 120 minutes, submissions may not exceed 120 minutes.
Documentaries are generally 60 - 90 minutes, submission may not exceed 90 minutes.

Categories - Scriptwriting

  • Teleplay - Half Hour Format
  • Teleplay - One Hour Format
Scriptwriting is the only category in Telefest that we cannot display on our site, nor offer up to the Telefest audience for Viewers Choice voting. This category will be voted on ONLY by Industry judges. Submissions for teleplays are judged in the preliminary round based solely on a treatment of your script. If accepted as a teleplay finalist, you will be required to send a full version of your script within 30 days of your acceptance notification and will be required to take all copyright precautions as well as registering your project with the WGA.

Treatment - Generally 1 - 5 pages
Teleplay Half Hour Format is generally 30 - 40 pages.
Teleplay One Hour Treatment is generally 50 - 60 pages.
Treatment deadlines are the same as all other categories and subject to the same fee structure (early, standard and late) as all other categories.
